System Shock Remake Systems Engineering Gamma Quadrant CPU Nodes And Beta Energy Shield V3

CPU Nodes Being Destroyed

Hello everybody, this time around I’m venturing into Beta Quadrant but first, I destroy the CPU Nodes. Since I did the Cyberspace Mission last, I was still in the Administration Office where you can see into Beta Quadrant and the Cyborg Elite that’s on patrol. The Cyborg Elite patrols halfway up the stairs and then back down, so I waited till I saw it on the stairs to go out of the office and deal with it; just a few shots with the Scorpion Rifle is all that’s needed. With the Cyborg neutralized, the CPU Nodes can be destroyed without being interrupted. To save ammo, shoot each Node with the Mag-Pulse Rifle once first, and then all that’s needed is to shoot the first one or any of them, and the explosion from it will blow up the rest. I think it’s because the Nodes are so close together that they all blow up at the same time.

Beta Quadrant

One of the entrances to Beta Quadrant is through the CPU Node room; this is the one I entered. There are two sets of stairs going down; usually, there’s a Cyborg Elite patrolling this area, but I dealt with it before I began. The gangway turns left at the bottom and goes down a small set of stairs, ending at a door. The area is fairly big with high ceilings, but I didn’t find any hidden rooms or secret doors. The room on the other side of the door is rectangular in shape, with two slanted wall sections on each side and a door on the left. Between the slanted sections are spaces where you can take cover, which are useful for dealing with the Cyborg Warrior and two Security 2 Bots. The door on the left is labeled as shielded, so what this means is that the rooms beyond the door are contaminated, in this case, with radiation. Before you enter the room, turn on your Environmental Protection Pack and make sure you have enough power to run it while you are in the contaminated rooms. When you’re ready, open the door and lure the Cyborg Warrior out of the contaminated room. Then take cover behind one of the slanted wall sections and take it out. The Ion Rifle is very effective, but it will compete for power with the Environmental Protection Pack, so the next best weapon is the Mag-Pulse Rifle. When the Cyborg is down, enter the room; there are leaky barrels in both rooms, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference whether the barrels are destroyed or not, the radiation poisoning remains at 8 as long as you have your Environmental Protection Pack active. So, that being the case, I would just leave them as they are and save the ammo. In the first room, the gangway runs down the center with counters on each side and gangways along the walls on each side. All gangways lead to doors, so there are three doors leading to the back room. There are two Security 2 Bots in the back room, so the procedure is the same as the Cyborg Warrior: open the doors one by one until you see a bot, shoot it once, then retreat out of the contaminated room and take cover behind one of the slanted wall sections. When the bots are down, go into the back room to find the V3 Energy Projectile Shield on the counter along the west wall; there’s also a Monkey Wrench on one of the counters across from it along the east wall. The shielded door in the back right corner exits to a small room with stairs going down to another door that exits back into the core. That’s my exploration of this part of Beta Quadrant done; thanks for reading, I appreciate your time and interest. I wish you well, and may God bless you today.
