System Shock Remake Final Boss Fight Against Shodan 2025

A Giant Spiky Ball

Hello everybody, welcome!

Well, this is it! The last mission where you have to enter Cyberspace one final time and defeat Shodan, the notorious AI that has plagued your journey thus far. This Cyberspace is nothing like the ones you’ve faced in the game before; instead of floating around in an ethereal realm, you are now walking through a vividly designed digital landscape that feels both immersive and treacherous. Each step you take reveals new challenges, and the Cyber Stingers are much harder to hit in this version of Cyberspace, forcing you to refine your reflexes and strategy. You have only two chances to make it to the end, and with the absence of health pickups, what you start with must last until the very end of this high-stakes mission. This means it’s very likely that you won’t make it to the end on your first try, so it’s crucial not to get frustrated. Instead, if something isn’t working, you must be willing to try something different—experiment with your approach and adapt to the various threats that arise. When I picked up the single-shot rifle for the first time, I admit I didn’t think it was any good; it seemed unremarkable. However, I quickly realized that it shoots three shots every time you pull the trigger, which completely changed my perspective on its effectiveness. You have to utilize it a little differently from the other weapons; by this, I mean that you need to aim carefully and shoot less frequently. It’s a one-shot kill rifle, and in my opinion, it’s the best rifle in the game. Mastering its use can give you a significant advantage in the chaotic environment of Cyberspace, allowing you to take down enemies with precision and strategy. When you connect to the Cyberspace Terminal, you will be transported to a small room with a rifle floating on a mini lift in front of you and beyond that a force field-blocked door. Walk forward and over the rifle to pick it up; remember this for later so you don’t mistakenly pick up rifles that you don’t want. Shoot the two ice crystals on the upper left and right, and the force field will drop; walk through the door and onto the raised platform. When you step on the platform, it will lift up and transport you very slowly to the first island while having to listen to Shodan’s drivel.

The First Island

When you arrive at the first island, shoot the two ice crystals in front on the right and left, and immediately go right, then crouch down on the left side of the exit platform. The wall on your left will give good cover so you can stay there until most, if not all, of the cyber enemies are gone. When they’re all gone, Shodan will start firing shots up and onto the island; there are two sets of floating rings on the other side of the island, so you have to stand under the rings until Shodan fires and then move out of the way. Do this to both rings, and an orange ball will materialize in a slingshot type of apparatus at the front of the island; go there, approach it, and it will fire automatically. When it’s away and circling Shodan, she tries to discourage you as usual. Now go to the platform you hid by, get on, and it’ll transport you to the next island.

The Second Island

When you reach the second Island, walk forward and pick up the single-shot rifle; like I said before, this is the best rifle and it has the longest range. Go up the stairs on your left and shoot the two ice crystals up front, then move to the right or left and take out the enemies that spawn using the walls as cover, going back and forth through the openings. Advance only far enough to get the next wave of enemies to spawn, and when they’re gone, go on to the next area. When the enemies on one side are all gone and the ice crystals that are blocking the circuits for that side are destroyed, Shodan will start to fire, so even if she’s already fired, you might have time to make it to the rings. This island, like the first one, has two sets of rings; only on this island they are on opposite sides. When one side is done, move on to the other side, which will be a repeat of the first side; when all the enemies are gone and all of the ice crystals are destroyed, the orange ball will materialize. Once that’s away, you can get on the final platform that will transport you to the last and biggest island.

The Third Island

When you arrive at the third island and get off the platform, start moving, go passed the ice crystal on the floor, and up the stairs on your left. At the top of the stairs, turn right and, avoiding the weapon that’s floating, take the lift to the upper platform. There are four sets of rings on this island; two of them are on the upper platform. With the single-shot rifle, you can shoot the four ice crystals down where the orange ball materializes. Although the automatic rifle has the range, I don’t think it’s as good as the single-shot, and as for the crossbow weapon, it does not have the range. Shoot the four ice crystals at the front and wait for the enemies to spawn; there should only be two Cyber Stingers and two Cyber Guards. When they are gone, Shodan will start to fire, so when that happens, shoot the ice crystal that’s on the floor circuit and stand under the rings. It was after this point that I wanted to jump down and get something to spawn, and after reviewing the video, I’m pretty sure that I triggered more than one group, which resulted in a moment when I was almost overwhelmed. Anyway, the plan is to stay up there and use the advantage of the high ground to take out the cyber enemies as they are approaching. The last time I jumped down to get the enemies on the left side to spawn, I should’ve been a little faster to take out the Cyber Stingers when they spawned, but instead, they made it to my position and almost took me out. When the enemies are all gone and all the ice crystals are destroyed, the orange ball will materialize, and once it’s launched, you can go to the transport platform, which will bring you to the last island where there are no enemies.

The Last Island

When you arrive at the last island, walk ahead and take a left; in front of you is a new weapon, and beyond that is Shodan. Walk over to the new weapon to equip it and start shooting; it’s difficult to see where you are aiming because both the sighting dot and Shodan are green. Anyway, it’s the balls that you are supposed to hit; at first, I tried to aim and shoot, and when that didn’t seem to be working, I started shooting faster, and eventually, Shodan was destroyed. When she’s destroyed, you will be brought out of Cyberspace back onto the Bridge, and the credits will roll.

The other guide might have been for the final fight before the update which is totally different and not as hard. After the update they changed the final boss fight to what it is today, they went from one extreme to the other. Anyway thank you for your comments I’m glad you found this guide useful.
