Virtual justice, standing up for common folk

Silent Hill 2 Remake South Vale East 3

A Mysterious Hole

South Vale East

Hello everybody, welcome

In the attached video, I end up at the Saul Street Apartments because of my neglect to look at the map when I picked up the matchbook from Neely’s Bar, which would have directed me to go there instead, so my travels at this early stage are a little mixed up.

Starting from the manual save point on Martin Street, I headed out and turned left to take care of a loose end from the last video. There’s a bloodstain beside the fence on the left at the north end of Martin Street. When James interacts with it, we get a third-person view and eerie music. It shows him just standing there, staring ahead, so it’s unclear whether there’s something of importance there or he is just scared stiff. With that out of the way, I started down Martin going south. When I reached Katz Street, I looked at the map, but I didn’t realize that because Neely’s was circled, I was supposed to go there, which would have made more sense. Instead, I turned left to go to the restaurant that had an open door on this street, which you can see from Lindsey Street. When I first walked into the Texan Restaurant, I went to the right, and even though James was looking at the poster on the wall and there was a white circle indicating there was something to look at, I didn’t see it. Anyway, coming here on the way to Neely’s was a good thing because in the cash register, there was a Neely’s coin that you’ll need later. When you collect the coin, don’t look at it too long because one of those freaks on two legs shows up. I thought I was in Neely’s Bar, but I was wrong; it’s the Texan Cafe, and the poster on the wall to the right of the side door reads “Spill the beans over an honest cup of coffee.”

Back outside on Katz Street, I started heading west. A couple of doors down is the sewing shop. I tried the door, which was locked, but I didn’t recognize the cloth on the windowsill to the right of the door. You can break that window and jump in; there’s a note on the desk at the back left that reads, “I saw him again or at least I think so, he says he didn’t, but I don’t know anymore. I’m tired, can’t find it, doesn’t matter, that scraping noise again.”

Back on Katz, the building next to the sewing shop is Andy’s Bookstore. There’s a side window on the side street that can be broken. Inside, there’s a research article on the desk on the examination of Wiltse Coal Mine that concluded that the area around the mine is highly active. The group from the Maine Psychical Research Association also wanted to do further research and exploration of the gorge but was met with resistance from locals, citing this would hinder tourist activity. Additionally, the site was declared a Historic Nature Preserve by the Silent Hill Historical Society.

Back outside, the building next to it is the laundromat; the window is open, so you can jump right in. Beware of the mini crawler on the floor and the two-legged freak that follows you through the window. When they are taken care of, there’s one poster on the wall and some bloody clothing in one of the washing machines.

Back outside, I entered the back door to Big Jay’s. There was one two-legged freak that I had to take care of, and in the tight spaces, it’s difficult to dodge. In the seating area, there’s one health drink and a note on one of the tables that reads, “That man was here again. I told him he’d been warned not to come here. He acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about. Anyway, he got up and left. He didn’t make any sort of fuss, but there’s something about him that gives me the creeps. When I look at his face, it’s like I’m staring at a mask. And there’s something underneath, wanting to get out. I don’t want to be here when that happens.”

Back outside, I got mixed up after I had to deal with one of the freaks and ended up in the Texan Cafe again, so I had to backtrack up to Neely Street and turn left. I ran all the way to the end, having to deal with a few more freaks, and ended up in the Saul Street Apartments. Going to the apartment first wasn’t as much of an error as I first thought because there’s another item that you’ll need later at Neely’s. The ground floor has one hallway going in from the doorway and another hallway running perpendicular to it. There’s a wardrobe that can be moved in the doorway of the second room, which turns out to be the super’s bedroom, which is attached to the office. On the left wall of the office is an apartment key; a note on the desk explains that the key is from apartment 5, who left it there so someone could go up and check for a leak. Back in the hallway, there’s a floor plan on the wall to the left of the office door; apartment 5 is on the second floor. Before going up to the second floor, go to the end of the other hallway and into the room on the left. There’s a syringe on the desk on the right; there’s also a receipt from Green Pharmacy, which is where I was, I think.

Back in the hallway, make your way up to the second floor. At the top of the stairs, turn left and then left again; apartment 5 is at the end of the hall. Using your apartment key, open the door and go inside. There’s a crack in the right wall that leads to apartment 4 and another crack in the right wall that leads you back into the hall again but on the other side of the blockage. There’s a window you can jump through on the left that leads to the fire escape; climb the stairs to the top and jump through the window. Once inside, the fire escape will collapse, so going back will not be possible. The first thing you’ll notice is a book on a little table beside the chair. Reading it, you only get part of the story because there are a lot of missing lines. One thing is sure, though: he went to the Texan Cafe on the way out. There are two doorways; the one to the bathroom is open. There’s a big hole in the wall in the bathroom, and you’ll be prompted to press E or your equivalent to search. Searching produces the number 2 on a plastic button. As soon as you put the plastic button in your pocket, an auto save will occur, so this is a good spot to take stock of what you have and get ready for whatever lies ahead.

Thanks for reading! Your support means a lot, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time to follow this guide. May your adventures be thrilling and filled with victories. God bless, and I look forward to connecting with you in the next post!
