System Shock Remake Three Skully’s And The Self Destruct

Shielded Door Entrance To The Reactor Core

Hello everybody, since I had to travel down to the Reactor Level to initiate the self-destruct, I took the opportunity to visit three Skully locations and a few hidden areas along the way. Version 3 Turbo Motion Boots are needed to access the three locations, so starting from the Healing Suite, head out and turn right.

Hidden Areas In Medical

There are two hidden doors along the corridor on the way to the first Skully. Go through the Bulkhead door and look along the west wall past the first medical door; click on the wall and a section will open. Inside, you’ll find a Fragmentation Grenade. The second hidden area is a little further down along the same wall, almost in the corner; inside this one are two Healing Patches.

Medical Level Skully

Continue heading north through the Bulkhead door, past the elevator, and to your right, there’s a ramp going up. At the top on your left is another door. Go through that door and turn left; follow the corridor around the corner to your right. At the other end, the corridor turns right; on your left, there’s a door. Go through this door and the next one at the back of the room. There’s a ramp heading down; at the bottom of the ramp, there’s a light in the ceiling. Go a little further into the Maintenance Tunnels and then turn around and look up. The ceiling is a lot higher, and there’s a space where you can boost up to. This is the Skully location on the medical level.

Research Level Skully

From the elevator lobby, head out and turn left; head east until you reach the main corridor going around the Central Hub. Turn right and follow the corridor around the corner to your left and then right into Gamma Quadrant. Take another right and go into the last door on the left. The Skully is to the right of the Cyberspace Terminal entrance and it’s harder to see than the first one. Go to the right of the entrance and look up; the area where you want to boost up to is to the right of the white light that looks like the number 2. There’s a little ledge beside the entrance you can jump on, and from there boost up to the Skully.

Reactor Level Skully

From the elevator, turn left and continue down the walkway around the corner to your right. Go through the doorway and go left, past the Radiation Shield Control room and then to your right. At the end of the walkway is a set of stairs on your left going down into an area resembling the maintenance tunnels on the Medical Level. Go down the stairs, turn right, and then left; ahead you’ll see pipes going up the wall. Take a closer look where the pipes go, and you’ll see an area you can boost up to. This is where the Skully is located.

Hidden Area On The Reactor Level

The hidden area is just past the west Reactor Core; at the fork in the walkway, go right and then left. At the end of the walkway, you’ll see a red wall that looks like a waffle; click on the wall and a door will open to a fairly big area. There isn’t much for loot, only a Berserk Combat Booster patch. Going to the back of the area, you’ll come to what looks like a dead end, but clicking on the wall will open it, giving you access to the north section of the level. Turn left and you should see the exit door on the level above; jump up and exit the area.

The Reactor Core

There are two main entrances to the Reactor Core, one along the north wall and one along the west wall. I chose to enter through the west wall entrance because it was close to the Power Station. Before going into the core, make sure you’re fully charged and your Environmental Protection Pack is turned on. It’s also a good idea to have health and detox patches assigned to hot bar slots. With that said, it’s time to enter the core. The walkway goes left on the other side of the door, you’ll discover that there’s a Security 1 Bot patrolling there, so lure it out and deal with it in the main corridor away from the contamination. Back in the core, follow the walkway to the corner and take a peek. There should be a Security 2 Bot there; it was at the far end when I did this, so it made it easier to take out. Around the corner, there’s a walkway on your right; there’s another Security 2 Bot there, so carefully take it out. Go down this walkway to the end, you’ll find a switch and an audio log on the desk terminal. The switch turns off the barrier to the repulsor lift that brings you up to the keypad. The audio log is from Marc Steinberg; in it, he’s talking about the reactor leaking radiation with spikes as high as 8 rems, but you already know there’s high radiation in the core. Backtrack to the main walkway and turn right; just up from the corner, there’s an open doorway to the core on your right. The self-destruct switch is behind a force field in the core. You’ll have to enter the code that was displayed in each of the CPU Node rooms after the nodes were destroyed, so jump down and ride the lift up. At the top, the keypad will be in front; before you start punching in numbers, move ahead off of the lift. This will make it easier to enter the code. The code for me was 763095; you’ll know you had the right code when the Citadel PA System announces, “Destruct security clearance accepted.” Now turn around and pull the switch; the Citadel PA System will announce, “Reactor destruct countdown started.” After that, there’s no reason to stay in the core, so head out of the contamination. On the way out, you’ll get an email from Shodan; she’s not happy and wants to know what you did? Impudent insect. If she dies, then she’ll avenge herself on you; her cybernetic children will feed on you, and you’ll be forgotten so that none will even remember your name. As a parting remark, she tells you to enjoy your victory for the rest of your short life. Empty threats to be sure, so to put your mind at ease, jump into the Surgery Machine and get your health refreshed.
